Q. Why does it seem everybody I know has lower back pain?

A. As we wake up and begin our day we prepare for what's to come. We shower, get dressed, and head out to face the world. Now the world, as wonderful as it may be, is also full of many stressors that impact our bodies. These stressors are found in 3 forms:
1. Emotional/Mental Stress- This tends to be the first image people get in their heads when they hear the word stress. Life can be very trying and can wear us down quite a bit.
2. Physical stress- These are the traumas our bodies endure such as bad posture, bad shoes, trips and falls, sports, sitting at the computer, hard work, etc...
3. Environmental- This is the most overlooked of the stressors and one of the worst culprits in the fight against pain and dis-ease. This type of stress represents foods we eat, pollutants in the air, etc.
Each of these stressors puts our bodies to the test day in and day out. As this stress builds up in our bodies, our bodies begin to have trouble coping with the negative changes, and tissue damage occurs. Now it doesn't matter what type of stressors we face. Our body reacts the same way no matter what. After all, we are made up of the same cells, tissues, and organs regardless of our jobs, families, and lifestyles right?!
When the body endures stress... our muscles begin to spasm... our spinal bones become locked in place and sometimes the pulling of the muscles will even mis-align them... the nerves in which the spine is meant to protect is now left vulnerable... the cells, tissues, and organs of the body are unable to function at 100% do to the lack of functioning within the nervous system.
When our bodies become mis-aligned (subluxated) and the nervous sytem is inturn interfered with, our bodies become aggrevated, inflammed and begin the process of pain. The lower (lumbar) spine is a major shock absorber of the body and over time, when not properly taken care of, will not be able to cope with the stress and will become damaged. This will eventually result in the symptom of pain. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
