Q. When can I start to exercise?

Posted on 2011-06-16 11:41:13

While on the 5 and 1 program as constructed for you with your health coach, it is best to cut your current exercise plan in half or if you are not currently exercising then don't even begin just yet.  Allow your body to get used to the new wonderful changes you are making and once you are in the fat burning state and feeling the energy you and your health coach can start an exercise routine that is right for you.  It is always a great idea to utilize the expertise of a health professional to help you create a plan.  As a chiropractor I evaluate many patients making sure their bodies are healthy and prepared to safely exercise. Live Proper Health is working with some local fitness centers and will have great opportunities for you to join in the fun.  Please use this blog forum to communicate with each other and post if and when you are going for local exercise.  Form little exercise groups and work together to succeed.  Support each other and see great results!

Q. When I diet and lose weight why do I always gain it back?

Posted on 2010-06-12 06:56:07

A.  This question is very involved and would really take an in office consultation because each person is an individual and their diet and lifestyle needs to be critiqued as such.

Short answer is this...  most weight loss diets are focused on losing weight but are not focused on HEALTH!  Even at the rare chance that you stay the course and lose the weight on whatever diet you choose ask yourself this...  Was it safe?  Was it healthy?  Did you train your body and mind to maintain that weight loss?  Did you learn anything new about maintaining your weight and health? Did you just go back to what you know... old habits?

Unfortunately weight loss diets are focused ONLY on losing weight but are not necessarily healthy, safe, or long lasting.  At the Live Proper Health Center we focus our weight loss PROGRAMS on health first!  Notice I said PROGRAM and not DIET.  There is so much more to losing weight than just the diet itself.  You need a program catered to YOUR needs.  A program that is safe, healthy, and long lasting.  A program that is easy, convenient, affordable but most importantly a program that lasts a lifetime!

You must lose weight but you also must gain health!  If this question hits home with you, set up a FREE consultation at Live Proper Health Center and we can help you immediately.

Q. Why does it seem everybody I know has lower back pain?

Posted on 2010-06-01 12:32:56

A.  As we wake up and begin our day we prepare for what's to come.  We shower, get dressed, and head out to face the world.  Now the world, as wonderful as it may be, is also full of many stressors that impact our bodies.  These stressors are found in 3 forms:

1.  Emotional/Mental Stress-  This tends to be the first image people get in their heads when they hear the word stress.  Life can be very trying and can wear us down quite a bit.

2.  Physical stress-  These are the traumas our bodies endure such as bad posture, bad shoes, trips and falls, sports, sitting at the computer, hard work, etc...

3.  Environmental-  This is the most overlooked of the stressors and one of the worst culprits in the fight against pain and dis-ease.  This type of stress represents foods we eat, pollutants in the air, etc.

Each of these stressors puts our bodies to the test day in and day out.  As this stress builds up in our bodies, our bodies begin to have trouble coping with the negative changes, and tissue damage occurs.  Now it doesn't matter what type of stressors we face.  Our body reacts the same way no matter what.  After all, we are made up of the same cells, tissues, and organs regardless of our jobs, families, and lifestyles right?!

When the body endures stress... our muscles begin to spasm... our spinal bones become locked in place and sometimes the pulling of the muscles will even mis-align them...  the nerves in which the spine is meant to protect is now left vulnerable...  the cells, tissues, and organs of the body are unable to function at 100% do to the lack of functioning within the nervous system.

When our bodies become mis-aligned (subluxated) and the nervous sytem is inturn interfered with, our bodies become aggrevated, inflammed and begin the process of pain.  The lower (lumbar) spine is a major shock absorber of the body and over time, when not properly taken care of, will not be able to cope with the stress and will become damaged.  This will eventually result in the symptom of pain.    CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
